Matt Damon and the director of Spotlight team up for new thriller, Stillwater

In terms of the best dramas from the last decade, it's very hard to find a feature that's better than Tom McCarthy's superb Spotlight.

The Oscar winner was a brilliant adaptation of the true story about how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-ups within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.

Aside from dealing with a very sensitive subject matter, McCarthy also co-wrote a wonderful script and directed some superb performances from his cast.

Well, the talented director is back and he's got Dalkey's most famous guest alongside

Featuring a leading performance from Matt Damon, Stillwater follows an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma named Bill who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit.

Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill builds a new life for himself in France as he makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter

After seeing the trailer, it appears that the further Bill looks into the truth in the hopes of saving his daughter, the more danger he finds himself in.

Aside from Damon, the drama also stars Abigail Breslin, Camille Cottin and Lilou Siauvaud.

At present, Stillwater is set for release on July 30th
