Matt Costello a late addition to Pistons Summer League Roster

I am starting to suspect that someone in the Detroit Pistons front office is a Michigan State fan. Of course, last year the team offered Kalin Lucas a two-way contract after he shined in the G-League. Then, it was announced that Matt McQuaid would receive a Summer League tryout with the team. Now, it was revealed this morning that Matt Costello will also be joining the Pistons’ Summer League squad.

Costello is now the fifth Spartan who will be officially playing the NBA’s Summer League, joining teammate Matt McQuaid, Kenny Goins, Nick Ward, and Miles Bridges.

Costello’s best opportunity in the league came with the San Antonio Spurs in 2017-18 where he signed a two-way deal with the team. He has only played in 4 NBA games in his career, but as a good shot blocker who can hit some shots, I think he still has a shot to get into the league. He played in Italy last year for Sidigas Avellino.
