Matt Canada missed prime opportunity to make nice with Steelers fans

Short and to the point. “I do not.”

That was all Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada had to say when asked if he had any comment on the outbreak of “fire Canada” chants that have not only echoed through Acrisure Stadium but even broke out at a Pittsburgh Penguins game where head coach Mike Tomlin was in attendance.

This was a perfect opportunity for Canada to acknowledge the issue, give fans some hope and even endear them to him by talking about their passion and energy. Instead, he chose not to address it at all and this is only going to enrage fans even more.

The Steelers offense has been dreadful this season. We all recognize it isn’t all Canada’s fault but the fans have gone too far to look back now. If the Steelers offense doesn’t improve after the bye week, things are only going to get more intense for Canada.
