Matt Breida clears concussion protocol, still questionable with eye injury

The 49ers got good news on their top running back. Matt Breida was evaluated for a head injury in the third quarter Sunday against Washington.

Breida cleared concussion protocol which is the good news, but he’s not out of the woods injury-wise. He was poked in the eye during the game and is questionable to return, the team announced.

Breida’s absence means more work for Tevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert. It’s been a heavy dose of Coleman since Breida’s exit. He’s now the team leader in carries.

Breida had 11 rushes for 35 yards when he exited Sunday’s contest.
