Matt Breida believes it’s going to be the Mitch Trubisky revenge game vs. Bears

As the Chicago Bears gear up for their second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, all eyes will be on former Bear and current Bills backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who will return to Soldier Field on the visitor sideline.

“We wish him nothing but the best,” Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Thursday morning. “When the game’s going on, we’re going to do everything we can to stop him.”

The former No. 2 overall pick never lived up to expectations in Chicago, so it wasn’t a surprise when the Bears let him walk in free agency. Now, it’s the Justin Fields show in Chicago, where the storyline will be Fields vs. Trubisky, even though both won’t likely be playing in the same quarters, as Trubisky will get the start and Fields will come in after Andy Dalton.

Bills running back Matt Breida has high expectations for Trubisky in his return to Chicago.

“I’m excited for him to go back to Chicago and show them they made a mistake,” Breida said.

With Trubisky getting the start in place of starter Josh Allen, that means he’s going to go up against the Bears’ starting defense, a unit that gave him fits in practice over the last four years. Only this time, the defense will be allowed to hit him.

One of those players Trubisky will be facing is fellow 2017 draft classmate Eddie Jackson, who’s looking forward to Trubisky getting a fresh start with the Bills.

“Mitch had a lot of people against him, now it’s like turning the critics into fans…that’s my guy man,” Jackson said. “It’s a new chapter in his life, a chance to turn the page.”

But don’t expect the Bears defense to go easy on him.

“This weekend…I don’t care if you’re my cousin, my brother. If you’re lined up on the other side, we’re going to give you that work,” Jackson said. “He got it coming to him, for sure.”
