Matt Barkley wanted Bengals to pay him in Bitcoin

Here is a different kind of story: Former Cincinanti Bengals quarterback Matt Barkley wanted the team to pay him in Bitcoin.

Barkley, who spent some time with the Bengals in 2018 but suffered an injury and didn’t make the final roster, has apparently asked a few teams to pay him in such a manner.

The journeyman quarterback is far from the only pro athlete trying to get some of his wages in a cryptocurrency format. Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung has been an advocate for this method, too.

While the Bengals haven’t been as conservative in their ways this offseason to match their reputation, it is hard to imagine they will be doling out cryptocurrency contracts in the near future.
