Matt Baker's wife Nicola sparks demands for more Our Farm in the Dales as she thanks fans

Nicola Baker has sparked demands for another series of Our Farm in the Dales as she thanked fans for their support of the programme, with one branding it 'the best TV show in years.'

Viewers of More4 have been engrossed in Nicola and TV presenter husband Matt's show, which has seen them move back to County Durham to help Matt's dad run the family farm after mum Janice was left seriously injured in an accident involving a flock of sheep.

Four part series Our Farm in the Dales saw Matt and Nicola face up to some of the vital changes that needed to be made in order to secure the future of the farm before the family looked ahead to lambing season in last Wednesday's episode.

Prior to the April 21 episode going out on More4 both Nicola and Matt devastated fans by revealing it would be final one, with Nicola writing: "It’s the last Our Farm in the Dales tonight at 9pm on More4!

“We’ll be saying a fond farewell to the puppies as they head to their forever homes.

“If you haven’t seen the first few you can catch up on demand on All4. Hope you all enjoy the last one!"

Nicola returned to Instagram a few days later to inform followers of a repeat of the show, with her post prompting calls for another series.

Nicola wrote: "I loved sitting round the fire pit in the courtyard when we’d finished our work - perfectly warmed toes with a glass of mulled wine and a piece of bat loaf! Thanks for all your lovely comments about the series it’s very much appreciated."

Those who'd been avid viewers of Our Farm in the Dales were quick to respond, urging them to do more episodes.

One commented: "It was such a heartfelt pleasure to watch this series. The best show I’ve seen on tv for years. I hope you’re able to make a few episodes more to chart the progress of the work you’ve all done on the farm."

Another big fan told Nicola: "The feel good quality of your series was huge. Thank you so much for sharing and I’m hoping for more," and a third write: "Please, we want more"

As viewers hope for more Our Farm in the Dales, one of Matt's co-stars on Countryfile, the BBC show he's been on for more than a decade, has cast some doubt over his future on the show.

Adam Henson told the Express : "I don’t know really, but I know he has his own production company, and is producing a programme all about his family farm and the countryside.

“So I don’t know if he’s going to start concentrating on that or whether he will stay on Countryfile."
