Matrix vans surround Princes Park gates for police search exercise

A large police presence was spotted at a Liverpool park today - with the force telling the ECHO it was all due to a training exercise.

Images shared with the ECHO show a number of Matrix vans and police cars parked up outside Princes Park, on Devonshire Road, Toxteth.

In one image, officers can be seen with poles and what appear to be evidence bags.

A Merseyside police spokesperson told the ECHO that there had been no incidents reported in the area.

They said there was currently a search training exercise ongoing at the park involving Matrix teams.

It is not yet known how long the police will remain in the area as part of their training.
