Melbourne Victory have signed Matildas young gun Courtney Nevin ahead of their A-League Women title defence.
Nevin, 19, joins the Victory after 28 games across three seasons at Western Sydney, where she debuted as a 16-year-old.
A defender with four international caps, Nevin earned her first Matildas cap against Denmark in June this year and was a member of Australia's squad that finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.
"The last 12 months has been one of the most exciting years for me in my short career - making my Matildas debut and joining the team at the Olympics - and I'm looking forward to continuing that momentum with Melbourne Victory this season," Nevin said.
Nevin is an ideal replacement for former captain Angela Beard, who left during the off-season to play in Denmark.
"Courtney is one of the country's best young talents and we are thrilled to have her join our squad for the team's title defence," coach Jeff Hopkins said.
"She is the complete full-back with her attributes in defence and lethal qualities in attack which will add another dimension to our back-line as we look to finalise our squad in 2021-22.
"We'll continue to develop and nurture Courtney's development as one of the brightest prospects in Australian football - especially with the 2023 Women's World Cup on the horizon."
Nevin and teammate Kyra Cooney-Cross are currently training in Europe with the Matildas and are set to return to Melbourne in late October.
