Matilda musical original cast reunite to sing When I Grow Up in aid of NHS

The original cast of Matilda the musical have reunited to sing a rendition of When I Grow Up in aid of the NHS.

The actors – now really all grown up – first appeared in the musical ten years ago when it opened at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Actors include Bertie Carvel, who originated the role of Miss Trunchbull, and filmed himself singing with his sleeping baby, and Melanie LaBarrie, who stars in new musical & Juliet (and appeared in their rendition of I Want It That Way).

The show, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and based on Roald Dahl’s famous book, adapted by Dennis Kelly, was directed by Matthew Warchus. It won multiple awards when it transferred to London, including seven Olivier Awards and the Evening Standard Theatre Award for best musical.
