LUCKNOW: The UP Mati Kala Board will organise an exhibition this month to help clay artisans showcase the products designed and made by them. The artisans will be allowed to put up their ware in the exhibition for free. It will be the second exhibition as the board had held the first one in November last year.
Clay idols of Ganesh and Lakshmi will be on display besides other items of pottery and décor at the exhibition to be held in Lucknow from October 25, ahead of Diwali.
Sources in the Mati Kala Board said information about the exhibition will be sent to every district so that maximum artisans can benefit. “We are expecting more artisans than last year,” said an official.
The exhibition in 2020 was a success as products worth Rs 50 lakh were sold. It also helped in branding and promotion of the board and artisans.
This year, there will be an added feature for artisans in the form of training for three days. A three-day seminar on technical knowhow will help the artisans learn the use of tools and machinery. Last year, the state government had distributed tool kits and dyes to artisans who make Ganesh-Lakshmi idols.
