Mathias Pogba responds to Sergio Ramos Paul Pogba transfer comments

Paul Pogba's brother Mathias has claimed the Manchester United midfielder has not been in contact with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos after the Spaniard's recent comments.

Pogba was linked with a move away from United all summer long after publicly declaring in June that he was open for a 'new challenge' after yet another underwhelming season at Old Trafford.

Madrid seemed to be the most likely destination, though former club Juventus were also touted, as manager Zinedine Zidane made no secret of his desire to make Pogba apart of his comprehensive rebuild at the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos spent near £300million this summer in bringing Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Rodrygo to the squad, but reports suggest that the only one Zidane really wanted was Pogba.

Madrid never made the move which has seemingly already frayed Zidane's relationship with the club hierarchy after only rejoining the club in March after leaving the previous summer.

However, Mathias Pogba has confirmed that there has been contact between Paul and players of both Madrid and Barcelona, though not Ramos.

"I know he's spoken with a few players, but not Ramos," Mathias told El Chiringuito TV when shown an English newspaper article which quoted Madrid captain Sergio Ramos admitting he was a fan of Pogba.

"Who? Oh, Messi. Sometimes, not always. Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]. Griezmann, because of the national team.

"I don't know about anyone from Real Madrid. Oh, [Raphael] Varane, yes, and yes, with Zidane, yes."

United have remained adamant that Pogba is not for sale and his current contract doesn't expire until 2021, with the option of a further year.
