Matheus Pereira next club verdict as West Brom star linked with Leeds United and Arsenal

Leeds United have been linked with a move for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Matheus Pereira.

The Brazilian playmaker was one of a very few bright sparks for the Baggies last term as he netted 11 goals and provided six assists despite their relegation to the Championship.

Pereria’s 17 goal contributions equated to almost 50% of the entirety of Albion’s goal tally and his fine individual season is expected to see him make a swift return to the top-flight.

The Whites, however, are not the only Premier League side reported to have an interest in the 25-year-old and so here is where the bookies expect him to be playing his football come September 1.

West Brom (2/5)

Despite the long list of potential suitors for Pereira, the bookies claim that the Brazilian is still more likely to remain at the Hawthorns ahead of the new season, than depart.

Given the superb impact he has had on the club during his two years as a Baggie, West Brom will not want to lose their talisman cheaply.

Norwich City (3/1)

Should Pereira depart the West Midlands this summer then newly promoted Norwich have been instilled as the favourites for his signature.

Daniel Farke’s side will be desperate to add some creativity to their side this summer following the departure of their talisman Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa on Thursday, who contributed to 32 goals in the Championship last term.

Leeds United (4/1)

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are reportedly next in the queue for Pereira as they continue their search for another creative midfielder.

The former Sporting Lisbon man fits the bill as to who the Whites are targeting in that area of the field, as he can play both through the middle and out wide.

Arsenal (7/1)

A little further behind on the plethora of clubs in the running for Pereira is Arsenal, whose squad is set for a major rebuild this summer.

Mikel Arteta is undoubtedly in the market for another number 10 ahead of the new season and could make a move for the Brazilian after failing in their bid for Buendia, as well as the completion of Dani Ceballos’ and Martin Odegaard’s loan deals with the Gunners.

Aston Villa (9/1)

Another Premier League side expected to be in the running for Pereira is West Brom’s Midlands neighbours Aston Villa.

Any move by Dean Smith’s men, though, is expected to rely on the future of their skipper Jack Grealish, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer.
