Matheus Cunha is a name that refuses to go away when it comes to the Leeds United gossip column this summer.
The Brazilian had an impressive season for an underwhelming Hertha Berlin side as he netted eight goals and as many assists for the Bundesliga outfit in 2020/21 following his arrival from RB Leipzig.
He has been regularly linked with a move to Elland Road throughout the summer, with reports in both Germany and in his homeland that he is a player United are keen on acquiring this summer.
Leeds Live understands that he is a player they have checked on but that interest in the player has not formalised into anything concrete at this stage.
Cunha would fit the bill in many respects given his ability to play centrally as an advanced midfield option or on the flanks - two positions Leeds are keen to bolster this summer.
UOL Esporte yesterday ramped up the speculation by claiming that he is the subject of an 'intensified' approach from Leeds for his signature during this summer's transfer window.
And the latest rumours have prompted a shift in the betting markets too, with Cunha being reduced from 5/1 to a 2/1 shot to move to Leeds between now and the end of the window.
Six other clubs feature in the betting, including three English clubs, with Monaco and Napoli both priced at 7/1 while Atalanta are an 8/1 shot before Liverpool (9s), Arsenal (10s) and Spurs (12s) enter the equation.
Cunha is one of only two players in SkyBet's list of transfer odds where Leeds are considered the bookmakers' favourite to sign the player, with Ryan Kent the other in a 4/1 shot while they are joint-frontrunners in the odds with Norwich City for West Brom schemer Matheus Pereira.
There has been no indication to suggest either player figure on Leeds' radar.
