Mateusz Klich teases Leeds United supporters over Robin Koch summer transfer

Leeds United are continuing their preparations for their Premier League return, with just a few weeks to go until the Whites make their long-awaited return to the top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa has already made a number of additions to the squad ahead of the 2020/21 season, a mixture of first-team assets and additions for the future.

So far, Codey Drameh has arrived as a new man for the defence while Joe Gelhardt could provide an option in attack - but more names are being eyed.

Premier League opening day fixtures 'leaked'

With Ben White returning to Brighton following his loan spell at Elland Road and the Seagulls reluctant to approve a permanent deal, a central defender is top of the agenda.

Alternative targets are being lined-up and among them is Freiburg defender Robin Koch - who actually has links to one Leeds player.

Fans on social media identified that Mateusz Klichhad followed the Germany international in Instagram and asked if they'd played together previously.

Klich replied confirming they had at Kaiserslauten but added a winking tongue-out emoji to tease supporters about a potential reunion at Elland Road.

Speaking of further deals, Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear has admitted the club may have to pull the plug on their pursuit of Ben White in order to pursue other targets.

"I think it's going to be incredibly challenging, I think is the latest position," Kinnear said on The Extra Ball podcast. "We've made no secrets of how highly we rate Ben, you saw what he did this season.

"I think we could have done without him ripping one into the top corner in the last game, everyone was celebrating and I had my head in my hands!

"The reality is, he did a wonderful job for us, but he's a Brighton player, they rate him very highly, I'm sure they see us as a rival.

“There is no lack of financial commitment in terms of trying to secure him, but there comes a point where you have to accept that it's not going to happen, and you don't pursue someone for too long at the expense of other targets.

"We have two or three other names in that group in terms of that position, who supporters should be really excited about.

“I know emotionally it won't have the same appeal as getting Ben back, but if it doesn't work with Ben we've got some good cover lined up."
