Mateusz Klich puts controversy to one side as he discusses his change in position against Aston Villa

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich says that he has no particular preference other whether he plays in a more offensive or defensive role as he gears up for a Championship play-off campaign.

The Whites’ fate was sealed officially with a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday that saw its fair share of drama and confirmed that Sheffield United would join Norwich City in securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Klich, who scored the opener at Elland Road, saw his effort spark a mass brawl over protests that Leeds should have put the ball out rather than play to the whistle after an injury to Villa's Jonathan Kodjia in midfield.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa allowed the visitors at Elland Road to sportingly stroll in an uncontested leveller in the aftermath, with the result confirming a five point gap to the Blades with one game left.

Speaking after the game, Klich was asked about his position in the team after he played further up the field in attack against Dean Smith’s side, and whether he enjoyed it more.

However, the Poland international stated that he was not fussed over how Bielsa utilised him, providing that it helped the club to deliver results.

“You know, when I play good and the team plays good, I enjoy every game,” the 28-year-old stated. “It doesn’t matter if I’m in a more advanced role or less advanced role.

“I just like to play the way we are playing and I just hope we are going to play like this until the end of the season because this is a good way.

“Everyone was good on the pitch, everyone was sharp and I just think we need to score more goals, that’s the problem.”

United face Ipswich Town on Sunday in their final regular game of the Championship season, where they will look to beat out West Brom to seal third in the table.
