Mateusz Klich on the 'risks' Helder Costa will take for Leeds United this season

Mateusz Klich has spoken about his delight over the signing of Helder Costa and insists he 'can’t wait' to play with Leeds United's new playmaker.

The Whites signed the Portuguese winger from Wolves on an initial season-long loan deal which will become permanent next summer for a fee of around £15m.

Costa won the Championship title with Wolves in 2018 but fell out of favour with Nuno Santo after a formation change following promotion to the Premier League.

Regarded as one of the best players in the division, the 25-year-old is expected to add an extra dimension to Leeds’ attack, offering pace and creativity from the right flank.

He could make his debut for his new club on Sunday against Bristol City, along with fellow loan addition Ben White.

Klich spoke about the importance of Costa and explained how his direct dribbling style can give Marcelo Bielsa’s side an extra edge this season.

“To be fair, I can’t wait to play with him,” he said, speaking ahead of the opening day clash against Bristol City.

“As you said, Ben White looks very decent as well and he’s going to be an improvement. Helder is a great player and he does the thing that we missed last season, he dribbles a lot and I know Marcelo likes players who dribble and takes risks and he is the kind of player so he can help us, 100%.”

Mateusz Bogusz is another player that caught the eye in pre-season, particularly during the Whites’ tour of Australia.

The 17-year-old midfielder gabbed a goal and produced a stand-out performance in their win over Western Sydney Wanderers, which has fans clambering to see the youngster feature for the first team on a more regular basis.

Bielsa placed his faith in a number of the Thorp Arch crop last term, with Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton and Bailey Peacock-Farrell establishing themselves with the senior squad.

Klich is hopeful that his fellow Pole can enjoyed similar success this season as the Whites push for automatic promotion.

“Yeah, I think he’s definitely going to get some minutes this season because in pre-season he looked great. We have a lot of young players, they look ready and they want to play so let’s give them a chance and try them because why not?

“He looked very good against Sydney and scored a goal. I hope for him he’s going to get some minutes because the sooner the better for him.”
