Mateusz Klich on the Leeds United academy star he tips for a ‘big future’

Mateusz Klich has tipped his Polish compatriot Mateusz Bogusz for big things at Leeds United .

He’s reportedly something of a mentor for Bogusz, who joined the club from Polish side Ruch Chorzów.

Klich teased that the youngster is “probably going to be better than me” earlier in the summer and has kept the praise coming.

The 18-year-old has put in some dynamic performances for Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s have instantly turned heads, and he’s since been rewarded with senior opportunities under Marcelo Bielsa.

He featured in the pre-season tour of Australia, coming off the bench against Manchester United and scoring the opener in the 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.

Bogusz is now a regular on the bench in Championship games, and was handed a full competitive debut in the 2-2 draw against Stoke City in the League Cup, playing all 90 minutes before the Whites lost the penalty shootout.

“Big future,” said Klich, speaking at a recent Q&A event at Elland Road.

“I told him already that he’s lucky that he got here at such a young age because he really has a lot of talent, he’s a very humble guy and he wants to learn.

“He’s a good player so I think he’s going to have a good future.”
