Mateusz Klich loves a Bristol City dig and remains Leeds United's chief wind-up merchant

Mateusz Klich has taken a dig at Bristol City and insists Leeds United will head to Ashton Gate itching to take all three points.

The Whites begin their Championship campaign at Ashton Gate on Sunday against the Robins.

Marcelo Bielsa has a good record against Lee Johnson, with United winning both of their meetings last season without conceding a goal.

There has been a little bit of needle between the two sides with comments from both camps in the media and Klich has added fuel to the fire ahead of the season opener.

Speaking to the assembled media, he said: “To be fair, every Championship game is very difficult and Bristol away is the same difficult game.

“I know the Bristol they talked last season they want play-offs and stuff like this, but they had one shot on target in three games against us so let's hope they have the same amount of shots this season and we win.

“We’re going there to win and for three points. It doesn’t matter where we go, we want to win.”

Fighting talk from Klich, who will be hoping three points on Sunday can be a catalyst for another successful season for Leeds.

Bielsa’s side are the bookmakers’ favourites for the Championship title after finishing last season in third.

That achievement is underlined by the club’s 13th-place finish in the 2017/18 season and Klich heaped praise on his Argentine boss for the impact he’s had since arriving at Elland Road.

“He had a big impact. Like 95 per cent of players had the best season of their lives and he improved every one of us,” Klich said.

“There's not much more to say because he's improved the whole team. Basically, the same team was two seasons ago mid-table team and last season we almost got to the Premier League.

“He improved every one of us and I just hope this season is going to be good like last season or even better.”
