Mateusz Klich has given a glowing endorsement of Joe Gelhardt and backed the Leeds United youngster to earn his Premier League debut this season.
The Whites youngster has impressed for the Under-23s since moving from Wigan Athletic last summer and caught supporters' attention with two eye-catching goals against Liverpool on Sunday.
Gelhardt has been likened to a young Wayne Rooney due to his playing style and physique, which has understandably left tongues wagging.
The 18-year-old was named as Premier League substitute last term but is awaiting his first minutes on the pitch, which Klich believes are not far away.
"He's very good, I very much like him," Klich told BBC Radio Leeds.
"He develops like he does, he's getting better and better. I think he's getting closer to the team as well. I really hope he gets a Premier League start this season because I think he deserves it.
"He's a good player and I really like him."
After a relatively slow start to the season, Leeds have three points from their opening five matches and are awaiting their first victory.
Klich believes that it's been a familiar story of a lack of clinical edge in front of goal and remains confident that the victories will soon come.
"We've been there many times where we have missed our chances, we create a lot," he said.
"We need to score, it's not the first time that we've had a lot of possession, a lot of chances and we should win.
"Everyone is telling us we are in a bad situation but we have played five games, three of them against the top four and we only lost two.
"It's a difficult league, there are no easy games and every point matters now."
