Mateusz Bogusz signs new Leeds United contract as young Pole commits until 2023

Mateusz Bogusz has signed a new contract with Leeds United.

The Pole made his league debut with the Whites when he came off the bench during the season's final match, when Leeds thrashed Charlton Athletic 4-0 and has now put pen to paper and agreed new terms with the club.

Bogusz's new deal will run for three years until the summer of 2023.

The 18-year-old joined Leeds from Ruch Chorzow in January 2019, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the club's successful under-23s side.

His first taste of the first-team came in the EFL Cup defeat to Stoke City last August and featured eight times on the bench during the club's title-winning campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa discussed the Poland Under-21 international's progress after including him in the squad to face Swansea City during the run-in.

"He is growing in training," said the Whites head coach. "He's an offensive playmaker. I thought he would be an option for today's match. He is more offensive than Shackleton and Gotts. For this reason, I considered him in case we needed him in the match."

Bogusz's new deal comes after Leeds confirmed the signing of 16-year-old forward Charlie Allen from Linfield earlier on Tuesday.
