Mates went for 'quiet pint' and ended up on 4am flight to Ibiza

Two friends have told how their night out got a little out of hand after they went out for a quiet Friday evening drink - only to end up on a spontaneous weekend trip to Ibiza. Dan Evans and Alex Stubbs had popped out for a quiet drink together in Merthyr when somebody suggested that they go to Magaluf in Majorca.

Dan and Alex decided it sounded like a brilliant plan, and got a taxi to Cardiff Airport. After stopping at home to grab their passports and phone chargers, they headed straight over.

When they arrived at the airport, they had to change their plans as the only flight to Majorca was full. Not to be defeated, the pair instead hopped on a flight to Ibiza, WalesOnline reports.

With no accommodation plans for the weekend, they ended up simply partying for their whole stay. Nonetheless finding a way to get home was more tricky.

Dan, 23, said: "We stopped off at home to collect our passports and phone chargers, and then headed to the airport. When we got there though the Majorca flight was fully-booked, but there was a flight to Ibiza, so we booked ourselves on to that one."

With no hotel and no return flight home booked, the pair bought some shorts and headed straight to the Ocean Beach club, before finding a nightclub. Dan says: "We literally partied the whole weekend, and then when the sun came up on Sunday morning we had to think about how we were going to get home."

Dan and Alex had only bought one-way tickets from Cardiff, and the only one back on Sunday was to London Stansted.

"It was more difficult getting a plane back, but we sorted one, flew back into London in plenty of time to be at work on Monday," said Dan. "It was a bit of a shock to the system, but it was all worth it.

"We have no regrets and will probably do it again. But it might be a few years before we can do it again."

The spontaneous duo also made a video about their adventure which received thousands of comments online. One person said: "They had the time of they lives good on them after the s*** two years we all had, I say good on them for living they best lives." Another said: "I normally ended up in Splott."
