Mateo Kovacic names the issue Chelsea must fix amid Premier League's top four battle

Mateo Kovacic has echoed Frank Lampard's frustrations that Chelsea must start taking their chances amid the battle for the Premier League's top four.

The Blues have consistently dominated possession over the course of the campaign, and while they have often had shots in the double figures they had been short on goals.

At the back Chelsea have also leaked goals and they had a nervy end to their FA Cup fourth round match when they came away with a 2-1 win over Hull City.

The Blues will discover their fifth round opponents this evening as they try to clinch their ninth FA Cup crown.

But for Kovacic, he knows that the Blues have to start being more clinical if they want to have success.

"It was a tough game, as we knew that it would be, but we need to score in the first half two more goals," Kovacic told the Chelsea website.

"That’s our problem in this moment but obviously we’re happy to go through.

"It was because we didn’t score on time - we had some chances and we didn’t use them. In training, we are working on it but we are still a young team, a new team, and we need to improve a lot.

"We need to take our chances, which in this moment we are not doing great, but we have time to improve and I am sure we will do."
