Micah Richards has slammed Tottenham stars Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Erik Lamela over their decision to celebrate Christmas Day with each other and their family and friends.
The trio were pictured with a large group of family and friends along with West Ham star Manuel Lanzini, and they have come under intense criticism with London in Tier 4 and such gatherings strictly banned due to the coronavirus situation.
A club statement read: "“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to adhere and set an example.
“The matter will be dealt with internally.”
And Match of the Day pundit and former Man City defender Richards has added criticism of his own for the Spurs stars, saying: "It's disheartening.
"We all know the good work that footballers do behind the scenes. And we see this now, again, another footballer doesn't care, think they are better than everyone else and it just paints a bad light.
"All the hard work that has gone in from the NHS over the last six months or so, it's just a slap in the face. It spoils it (the good work of footballers)."
Reguilon was dropped to the bench for Tottenham's win over Leeds United on Saturday, perhaps as a result of his behaviour, while Lo Celso was nursing a slight injury anyway and missed out.
Lamela was believed to be fit but was nowhere to be seen in Mourinho's matchday squad, again, that could be related to the part he played in the much-criticised gathering.
The gathering came amid rapidly rising cases in the capital and indeed around the country with more areas since plunged into tier 4 restrictions with a new strain of the virus spreading across the country.
