Danny Murphy has tipped Chelsea for a revival following their disappointing run of form.
The Blues are now on a run of four defeats in six games following their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, a game that was all-but over by half-time after Pep Guardiola's men raced into a three-goal lead.
The result left Chelsea in eighth place with manager Frank Lampard coming under serious pressure following a summer of heavy spending.
But according to Match of the Day pundit Murphy, the Blues shouldn't be written off from a decent finish just yet due to their impressive squad.
Murphy thinks Liverpool and Manchester City will make up the top two, but says Chelsea are likely candidates to finish third.
"I think it is a very unique season for lots of reasons, as we know, and it is brilliant for the neutral to watch," he said on Match of the Day 2.
"I still can’t see past Liverpool and Manchester City as one and two, although United fans will be hopeful they can produce something.
"We are certainly not going to see anyone running away with it, but yeah, Liverpool and Man City for me as one and two and maybe Chelsea to come back and have a run with the squad they have got."
Chelsea looked as though they would put together a title charge early in the season with fine form to kick off the campaign, but they have since endured a wobble and Lampard appears to be struggling to turn it around.
The pressure is really beginning to mount and Chelsea now have a long wait to respond to that defeat to Man City, facing Morecambe in the FA Cup before returning to Premier League action a week on Friday against west London rivals Fulham.
