'Match against India...': Pakistan's star batter urges Elon Musk, X to ban account 'spreading hate'

NEW DELHI: Highlighting a fake post and misuse of verified accounts, Pakistan middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmad tagged social media platform X, formally known as Twitter, and its owner Elon Musk, urging a ban against the user.

The user shared an alleged quote of Iftikhar which read, "Whenever we have played against India it feels like we are playing against street children," this quote was falsely attributed to him, which the batter vehemently denied and said the user was 'spreading hate' with such posts.

Clearing the air over the alleged statement, Iftikhar said that no professional cricketer would ever make such statements.

Amid the political tensions between the two nations over the years, arch-rivals India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012. However, the two countries have locked horns in multi-nation tournaments.

The next India vs Pakistan fixture is slated to be in the upcoming Asia Cup on September 2.
