Matalan reopens Bishopbriggs store for shoppers and click and collect

Matalan have reopened one of their stores near Glasgow following a change in government guidance to include homeware as 'essential retail' in Scotland.

The Bishopbriggs store is among 10 stores across Scotland that have opened their doors again today (June 11), with the fashion and homeware retailer implementing a series of measures in store to encourage social distancing.

An email sent to customers reads: "Given the change in government guidance on May 29 to include Homeware as essential retail in Scotland, we are now pleased to inform you that we are starting to reopen selected stores.

"We're pleased to let you know that your Bishopbriggs store is now open. Our click and collect service has also resumed so you can order online and pick up in your Bishopbriggs store if you prefer. We look forward to seeing you in store soon."

The store layouts have changed and the amount of customers allowed in at any one time has been reduced, with floor markers introduced and all staff given PPE.

Fitting rooms, cafes and toilets have also been temporarily closed and hand sanitiser and cleaning products have been provided for customers to clean theirbaskets or trolleys.

The reopening of the Bishopbriggs store and other stores in Scotland comes after the chain opened an initial 15 stores in England on May 18 following a change in government guidance down south on May 1.
