Masters: Tiger Woods’ opponents congratulate him on win at Augusta National

Tiger Woods’ win at the Masters came with overwhelming support from the media and his fans. And some of Woods’ biggest fans may have been his competitors.

“I think I speak for a lot of the golf world when I say… We’re happy for you TW!” Justin Thomas, who finished tied for 12th at the Masters, wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Even after controversy and injury, Woods received an ovation on social media from many of the golfers who competed against him at the Augusta National over the weekend. Woods won his first major in 11 years and his first Masters tournament in 14 years.

“Very few people really know what @TigerWoods has been thru to get back to this point,” Rory McIlroy wrote following Woods’ win on Sunday. “So cool seeing him with Tida, Sam, Charlie, Erica and the rest of the team behind 18 green.”

After he pulled his ball from the hole at the 18th, Woods enjoyed a touching moment with his family. He embraced his two children, Sam and Charlie, his girlfriend Erica Herman and his mother Kultida Woods. Woods was overjoyed, with huge smiles as he exited the course with his family in-tow.

Even after losing, a few of the golfers allowed themselves to enjoy the historic moment.
