Masters: Severe weather forecast prompts major Sunday schedule change

Several southern states are bracing for severe weather on Sunday, and forecasts heading into the weekend indicated that the final round of The Masters was under threat.

With thunderstorms expected in the area just as The Masters typically finished up on Sunday afternoon, the tournament announced Saturday that the final round will be moved up significantly in an attempt to complete the tournament in safe conditions, without a move to Monday.

Instead of the usual two-man groups, the final round will be played with threesomes going off the first and tenth tees throughout the day. The national television broadcast on CBS will also be moved up.

Via Masters.com:

“Players will be grouped in threesomes with tee times scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. The leaders will tee off at 9:20 a.m.

Gates are scheduled to open at 7:15 a.m.

CBS will broadcast the final round live, beginning at 9 a.m.”

As always, you’ll be able to stream a simulcast of CBS coverage online via Masters.com and The Masters app. We will update this post with tee times for each group when they are announced.
