Masters green jacket ceremony canceled by Sunday weather

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The final round of the Masters starts early. Weather is expected to roll in this afternoon in Augusta. That’s all been discussed and over-discussed the last 24 hours at Augusta National.

(Well, that, and a certain guy named Tiger).

But we learned this morning that Sunday’s expected storm has washed out the traditional green jacket ceremony on the terrace putting green, the ones patrons can attend.

This from the Masters, early Sunday morning:

There will not be a Green Jacket Ceremony on the terrace putting green this afternoon in order to expedite gate closures.

CBS will still do its green jacket ceremony in the Butler Cabin, where last year’s champ Patrick Reed will slip it on to this year’s winner.

The first groups hit the course at 7:30 a.m., going off in threesomes on both tees. The leaders go off at 9:20 a.m. The final group includes Tiger Woods, Francesco Molinari and Tony Finau.
