Mastermind on the hunt for brainy Scots to take part in BBC quiz show

Brainy Scots will be able to take their place on the famous black Mastermind chair, as applications for the next series open.

The BBC is on the hunt for Scots who know a thing or two around general knowledge, and any specialist topic of their choosing.

Successful applicants will be able to face off against new quizmaster Clive Myrie, who replaced John Humphrys last year.

Producers say that casting for this year’s edition of the programme will take place from this month and will continue into June.

Applicants must be 18 and currently a resident of, or living in, the United Kingdom.

During the application form, you will also be asked to name five specialist subjects - which will be available during your stint on the show.

A member of the Mastermind team may be in touch to ask more about your application, before taking your through a short general knowledge quiz.

Applications for Mastermind 2022 will close at 11.59pm on May 9 this year.

A notice on the call for participants reads: “The popular BBC Two quiz is looking for contenders for the next series. Could you be the next winner of the coveted Mastermind Glass Bowl?

“Come and test your Specialist Subject and General Knowledge in the iconic black leather chair with our host Clive Myrie.”

More information on applying to participate on the show can be found here.
