- Two men charged with stealing €88m (£75m) worth of crown jewels from the Louvre have provided investigators with new details about the heist.
- The suspects, Abdoulaye N and Ghelamallah A, claimed a mysterious mastermind orchestrated the break-in, recruiting them just days before the event.
- They gained access to the Louvre's Apollo gallery via a furniture lift to a first-floor balcony, then smashed a window and used a power cutter to steal eight pieces of jewellery, including tiaras and necklaces.
- Abdoulaye N reported that the alleged mastermind was displeased with the haul, believing they "could have taken more" despite the record value of the stolen items.
- Both suspects refused to identify the alleged mastermind or any accomplices due to fears of reprisal, and investigators have not yet confirmed the involvement of other parties.
