Masterchef UK: Hero Scots dad with MS Dean Reilly to compete on new series

A hero Scots dad who suffers from multiple sclerosis is set to appear on the new series of Masterchef.

Dean Reilly, from Edinburgh, announced he will star on the upcoming BBC show, which restarts on March 23.

The 40-year-old was first diagnosed with MS a decade ago and has been fighting his condition ever since, reports Edinburgh Live.

Taking to social media, Dean admitted the news was ‘bittersweet’ after his father passed away last month.

He sad: "After recent days It’s a bittersweet post to let everyone know that I will be appearing in the upcoming series of MasterChef UK tune in to see how I get on."

Pals showed an outpouring of support, wishing him well and reminding him how proud his father was of his efforts.

He was crowned Edinburgh's Local Hero Winner in 2016 and raises money for MS Society Scotland.

Dean is no stranger to adversity and challenges, having completed seven fundraising marathons in recent years.

And now he'll need to keep his cool in the kitchen when he battles it out on the popular BBC show.

He will be under the watchful eyes of judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace as he competes to become this year’s Masterchef.

Birmingham-born Dan Lee won last year’s show after impressing the judges in the final with his Singapore-inspired three-course meal.
