MasterChef's Kenny Tutt advises 2019 winner to 'drink and celebrate before it gets serious'

Chef Kenny Tutt knows knows exactly the pressure this year's MasterChef finalists are under.

The former banker won the BBC series last year - and is still reaping the rewards from being crowned champion.

Set to open his own restaurant next month, he's cooked with some of his culinary heroes like Raymond Blanc and Tommy Banks.

As finalists Delia-Maria Asser, 27, Geoff Warburton, 56, Irini Tzortzoglou, 60, Jilly McCord, 42, aim to impress judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode , Kenny, 36, has a word of advice for them.

"Just enjoy it," he told. "See your family, friends, have a drink and celebrate. Before it all becomes too serious. Take your time and enjoy the moment."

Talking about the past 12 months since winning the show, Kenny, who recently quit his job as a bank manager, said: "It's been mental. I want someone else to win but I don't want to give up the title!

"I worked in banking for 20 years. Just recently I gave it up as I couldn't do both. I'm in free fall but eventually I'll land. This is more fun that being in an office, sat behind a desk.

"I thought, it's not fair I get to win this and just sit back. So I said to yes to everything. I've had the best time."

It's given him the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the food world.

"I worked with Tommy Banks up in Yorkshire. I've cooked for Raymond Blanc - it doesn't get much better than that."

And he's realising his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant.

"I'm opening Pitch in Worthing on May 24. The name comes from my market heritage, my parents were traders and would get us up at 6am to get the best pitch."

And he's still part of the MasterChef team, collaborating on a cookware range with them.

Excited for tomorrow night's final, Kenny has tipped two of the chefs for success.

"I like Irini, she's cooking some really tasty food. And Geoff - he's so crazy. In that vegan challenge when he comes up with an alternative to parmesan. That was great."
