Masterchef's Gregg Wallace strips off at Portobello beach for chilly dip before day out with pal Tom Kitchin

Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace stripped down for a cheeky early morning dip at Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

The TV presenter was spotted with a sizeable film crew on Portobello beach as he prepared for a dunk at 7am on Thursday morning.

Dessert aficionado Gregg could be seen with his hands lofted in the air as he stood in the freezing cold wearing nothing but a pair of black shorts.

But he left locals perplexed after telling Instagram fans he was at ‘Porta Bello’ beach in one post.

Dozens of fans commented on the buttery-biscuit base lover's topless snap at the beach.

One wrote: “You’re brave Gregg, bet that was freezing.”

Another said: “This seems to be becoming a trend. Well done.”

Scots chef pal Tom Kitchin even got involved, saying: “Bet that sorted you out mate.”

The 55-year-old BBC star documented the rest of his day around the capital, where he soaked the up the sights with Tom.

Despite originally being a greengrocer by trade, Gregg rolled his sleeves up to help his Michelin-starred pal in the kitchen - where he was pictured getting stuck in to a crustacean.

The hard work clearly paid off as Gregg was able to get a wee smile from Tom in a social media selfie.
