MasterChef's Gregg Wallace moves his in-laws into his home - for good

Most people can’t wait to get rid of their in-laws - but Gregg Wallace says he’s moved his in for good.

The MasterChef favourite shares his farmhouse with Italian wife Anna, 11-month-old son Sid and 23-year-old daughter - as well as Anna’s mum and dad Rina and Massimo.

He says they’re one big happy family.

“I’m very fortunate,” said Gregg, 55. “There are five of us and a baby. And two little dogs. We’re full.

“We’ve got me, Anna, her mum and dad and Sid’s 23-year-old sister. This isn’t because of the coronavirus lockdown, we were all here anyway.

“We all have breakfast together, cooked my Anna or her mum. Then I cook lunch. Then the whole family goes out on a long walk. And then either Anna, her mum or dad cook dinner.”

Gregg says the in-laws are great babysitters.

“Sid is energetic, it can be hard work. That’s one of the benefits of having the in-laws here. We all take it in turn.”

Celebrating little Sid’s first birthday next month, Gregg says he takes after his dad.

“He loves his food - like his dad! He eats everything except scrambled eggs.”

Gregg has been keeping fans up to date with his fitness regime and recently hit his target of four stone weight loss.

And he’s already lined up the next target for workouts at his Kent farmhouse.

“I want to reduce body fat content. At the moment I’m at 19%. I’d like to get that down to 15%. I’d like to look even more lean. I love fitness.

"Having to lookout myself on the television is where it all started. You look at yourself more than you normally would.”

Gregg says he’s taking inspiration from man of the moment Joe Wicks.

“I’d like to do more around fitness. Not for people like me, for older people. I’m working on ideas on how I can move my life into the world of fitness. I post exercises every morning.”

  • MasterChef semi finals start on Monday at 9pm on BBC One. Gregg is supporting Premiership Rugby’s #MakeThatCall campaign to encourage people to connect.
