‘Master of None’ returns for third season after 4-year hiatus

“Master of None” is mastering a semi-under-the-radar return.

The Netflix comedy, starring Aziz Ansari, returns for its third season next month, the verified Netflix Queue account tweeted Wednesday when it shared “just a taste of what’s coming to Netflix (in The US) this May!”

Unlike the first two seasons, which focused on the experiences of Ansari’s Dev, the third installment is believed to put Denise (Lena Waithe) front and center, Variety reports.

The second season debuted in May 2017.

Ansari, 38, and Waithe, 36, took home an Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series Emmy in 2017 for the second season episode, “Thanksgiving,” which looks at years of Denise’s family’s Thanksgiving celebrations, which included Dev, and her experience in coming out as a lesbian.

The win was a milestone moment, making Waithe — whose real life informed the episode — the first Black woman to win the award. She was also the first Black woman to be nominated for the honor.

During the dramedy’s hiatus, star Ansari was accused of being aggressive during a date and pressuring a woman — with the pseudonym Grace — into sex, as published in a controversially reported story on a now-defunct website.

“It really hit me that I was violated,” Grace told the outlet at the time.

The “Parks and Recreation” star, who largely disappeared from the public eye, relocated to London and reflected on the allegations in his 2019 Netflix comedy special, “Right Now.”

“There’s times I felt scared,” said the “Modern Romance” author. “There’s times I felt humiliated. There’s times I felt embarrassed. And ultimately, I just felt terrible that this person felt this way.”

Netflix did not specify the return date for the third season of “Master of None.”
