The Wallasey Tunnel was forced to close this afternoon after an accident inside the tunnel lead to Christmas traffic chaos.
Police were alerted around 1.30pm after a car travelling through the tunnel drove into a side wall.
The car is then reported to have spun around and collided with a lorry.

The tunnel was closed as the scene was investigated before being cleared and eventually allowed to reopen.
There are no reports of any injuries to the driver of either vehicle at this stage.
The tunnel has now reopened but significant tailbacks are currently causing frustration for motorists trying to get home for Christmas.
Merseytravel posted on Twitter at 3.42pm: "Due to earlier RTC there is heavy traffic Kingsway #Wallasey Tunnel Liverpool to Wallasey. Please see link for current for journey times".
