Massive shipment of cocaine and cannabis worth €6.2M found at Dublin Port thanks to Revenue sniffer dog Robbie

A massive shipment of cocaine and cannabis has been seized at Dublin Port with thanks to an intrepid canine.

Revenue sniffer dog Robbie was the hero of the hour when officers found €6.2 million worth of the illegal drugs in a trailer.

A whopping 93 kilos of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.9m and a further 62 kilos of cocaine worth an estimated €4.3m on the street.

The drugs were found hidden in hot water cylinders in the trailer, which arrived at Dublin Port today from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

A Northern Ireland-based lorry driver was arrested by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau. A UK-registered truck and trailer were also seized by Revenue officers.

The search was carried out with the help of Revenue's mobile x-ray scanner as well as Robbie the detector dog extraordinaire.

These seizures are part of Revenues ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.
