'Massive shame' - Dane Murphy receives Nottingham Forest farewell after exit

Nottingham Forest supporters have been saying farewell to Dane Murphy after he stepped down as the club's chief executive officer.

Murphy's exit from the City Ground was confirmed on Monday morning, with the American executive posting an emotional statement on the club's official website.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their thanks to Murphy, who was at the City Ground for a little over 18 months and oversaw Steve Cooper's appointment and the promotion that followed. He is moving on to pastures new, but supporters are grateful for what he achieved at Forest.

Below is a look at what Forest supporters have been saying about the news.

@OfficialFFTV : Thank you for everything Dane Murphy - The Work you did to get up promoted can never be forgotten

@Tnewton_1988 : As much as it is a disappointment, people move on to throughout the business world. Dane has done an unbelievable job in the last 18 months to take the club to the position where it is now.

@elbosque_nffc : So long Dane Murphy. Thanks for the memories

@tomisonfire1024 : This is a massive shame. I don't think it was a coincidence of our upturn in fortunes shortly after this man joined us.

@JFKnight1994 : Not sure why people are surprised, was on the cards for a while.

@DannffcWillatt: Don’t like this!!

@halftimepies: Bigger clubs than us have had CEO changes, it’s all about who he is replaced by, I can’t see it being a poor recruitment given EM now sees us a PL club, I’m sure it’s all in hand

@mallyslife_: Thanks Dane for your involvement in finally getting us back in the Prem after so many years.
