Massive search for boy, 11, who went missing late last night on Super Saturday

Police have launched an urgent search for a missing 11-year-old schoolboy who vanished on Saturday night.

Officers are concerned for the safety of Cole McKeever, who is from the Kingstanding area of Birmingham.

The youngster was last seen around 10.30pm on a day dubbed Super Saturday due to England's coronavirus lockdown being eased.

Cole is described by police as white and around 4ft 5ins tall with short brown hair.

He was wearing a black Nike tracksuit with gold down the side and a navy North Face coat when he was last seen on Saturday night.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We urgently need your help to find a missing 11-year-old boy.

The appeal was posted on the Birmingham Police Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.

Members of Cole's family have shared the appeal on Facebook.

Last night was the busiest night of the summer in many towns and cities as pubs reopened for the first time in three months.

Police had to break up fights and deal with other trouble while some revellers overindulged on so-called "Super Saturday", which one top cop said was as busy as New Year's Eve.

Those who were lax in observing social distancing or caused trouble have been condemned, with the scenes stoking concerns that England could see a surge in cases after restrictions were relaxed.
