Massive queues outside Dublin store for PS5 but desperate shoppers leave empty handed

Huge crowds gathered in Carrickmines with desperate shoppers trying to get their hands on a PS5.

The queues formed outside Currys PC World all hoping to buy the latest PlayStation console for Christmas.

At the time the photo was taken, it was reported that only 40 PS5 consoles were left in store. Currys PC World have now sold out of the device, leaving many shoppers disappointed.

According to PS5 Stock Alert, Currys PC World are due to have more online drops in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, GameStop is set to have an online drop this month. An announcement will go on their social media page for the exact day and time.

Since being launched in November of last year, the console has proven to be elusive for some consumers but Smyths have issued an update about when they're expected to have the PS5 back in stock.

In a post on social media, they said: "We expect another restock of this console in October but no specific date is known. We're afraid we don't have a preorder/notification service available for the upcoming restock. Please do regularly check our social media accounts should this change."

As for Smyths and the busy Christmas shopping season, supply and distribution issues have also impacted the popular toy store with global shipping issues and container shortages being cited as potential issues.

A Smyths Toys Ireland spokeswoman said: "Smyths Toys advises you to shop early for Christmas.

"This is always a good idea so as to avoid the rush and to avoid disappointment."

This Christmas, it is predicted that the best-selling toys this year will include PAW Patrol, with demand expected to fuelled by a new movie based on the TV series which came out in the summer.

Other ranges forecast to be in demand include CocoMelon, Super Mario, Barbie and Bluey.
