Massive queues on East Lancs as Starbucks reopens its drive thru

Huge queues are waiting at Liverpool’s Starbucks drive-thru after it reopened to the public.

Cars have been queuing around the store for hours since it reopened following its closure in March.

Starbucks started reopening around 15% of its UK branches today as "handful of takeaway-only stores”.

Scenes at the drive-thru today saw customers anxiously waiting to get their hands on their coffee fix, though we imagine the wait was a while.

Starbucks closed all of its UK sites in March after the Government-mandated lockdown was introduced.

The reopening plan, which will start with stores broadly spread across the UK, will focus on ensuring the health and wellbeing of its employees and customers.

New safety measures at the site include regular hand-washing for at least 20 seconds, two metre social distancing, screens at payment areas and the use of contactless payment only.

For now, customers can get their hands on Starbucks’ core range of drinks and a limited food range.
