A lorry has overturned on a busy Liverpool city centre road blocking traffic in both directions.
The incident occurred near the Islington area just after 5:30pm this evening, according to traffic information service INRIX.
Erskine Street was blocked in both directions by the lorry and traffic in the area was moving slowly.
Emergency services attended to the overturned vehicle and cordoned off the scene.
The lorry overturned at the junction between Erskine Street and Shaw Street.
It is not clear whether anyone was injured in the incident.
There were queues of traffic on the A5048, according to INRIX, while police told road users to avoid Shaw St/Brunswick St, near Islington.
People shared photos of the overturned lorry on social media.
In a tweet, Merseyside Police said: "Please avoid Shaw St/Brunswick St, near Islington. We have long delays due to a road traffic incident. Try to find an alternative route."
The incident also disrupted bus routes in the area with Merseytravel rerouting bus services that passed through the area.
Just after 6pm Merseytravel tweeted: "Please be aware that due to a road traffic incident on Shaw Street, all Stagecoach 21 services are currently being diverted in both directions via Great Homer Street."
