A massive 'known' teen gang surrounded a brave Dublin dad punching him twice in the back of the head and threatening to 'shank' him after he confronted them over an alleged theft in south Dublin.
The father bravely questioned the '20-strong gang of 14 to 16-year-olds' after they allegedly stole his gardening tools - but was ganged up on and brutally attacked in an area near Tallaght yesterday evening.
The dad said that the group had stolen a shovel from his garden shed and as he went to take it back off them, he was assaulted by the group.
He said: "They were all about 14-16, young enough and there was about 20 of them.
"They stole tools from my shed and when I went to confront them, I was punched twice in the back of the head and surrounded by them."
He added: "I took a picture just to show how large the group was seconds before they came over to me.
"This is only half the group as all the girls had already walked ahead."
The father feared he was going to be stabbed as two of the group threatened to use a knife on him during the incident.
He added: "One of them had one in his pocket and his friend asked him for it and said that he was going to 'shank me'.
"Thankfully the lad carrying it didn’t give it to him and 'said we’re not doing that'."
A source told Dublin Live that Gardai were having problems with this particular gang.
They said: "Gardai had been called to deal with them twice before this happened."
Thankfully the young dad wasn't badly injured during the horrific incident.
He added: "I'm fine, just a bit shook up but wasn't hurt badly. I think its just one or two hard men and the rest are just hangers on."
