Fire investigators are headed to the scene of a Pukekohe home after it was set ablaze this evening.
Multiple calls were received about the fire on Victoria Rd in Pukekohe, with one caller describing it as "massive".
The fire, which reportedly started in a bedroom, has now been extinguished.
Northern fire communications shift manager Colin Underdown said the fire service was first called at 10.19pm.
The house on Victoria St was "well involved" when first responders arrived, and six fire engines were sent to the scene to put out the blaze.
Police were called at 10.45pm to direct traffic, a police spokeswoman said.
Cordons were in place on Victoria Rd, Helvetia Rd and Montgomery Rd, she said.
Victim support has also been sent to the incident.
The brigade had been unable to contact the occupants of the home but nobody was believed to be in the house at the time of the fire, she said.
