'Massive honour' - Key Nottingham Forest player talks captaincy and makes Sabri Lamouchi claim

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Watson has spoken of his pride over wearing the captain’s armband this season.

The 34-year-old has regularly worn the Reds armband during the current campaign while Michael Dawson has been on the sidelines.

In his 37 Championship appearances, Watson has captained the Reds in 25 of those and has been a key player for Sabri Lamouchi this term.

Watson says he is honoured to wear the armband that has been worn by many Reds legends down the years, including John McGovern and Stuart Pearce, to name a couple.

The experienced midfielder also praised head coach Lamouchi’s man management, labelling him as the best he’s worked with.

“It's great, to captain a Nottingham Forest side is a massive honour,” Watson told the club’s website.

“You only have to look at some of the great skippers that have worn the armband to understand what a privilege it is.

“The likes of John McGovern, Stuart Pearce and Michael Dawson are just some of the talent that have led the teams out at The City Ground and I certainly don't take it for granted.

“We have some great individuals who also play the role of a captain away from the pitch.

“Myself, Daws and Lewis are always talking to the manager, who is great and listening to us; his man management is up there with the best I've ever worked with.”
