Massive fire at abandoned Scots slaughterhouse burns through the night

Fire crews have worked overnight to battle an inferno tearing its way through an abandoned Scots slaughterhouse.

Firefighters scrambled to the abattoir on Broughty Ferry Road in Dundee after receiving the alarm at 9.01pm yesterday. Ten fire engines and specialist resources are currently in attendance.

Dramatic images of the blaze show flames ripping through the building while thick plumes of smoke spread into the evening sky. A height vehicle is also pictured at the scene with firefighters working to contain the inferno.

The cause of fire is currently unknown. There are no reported casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 9.01pm on Tuesday, September 20 to reports of a building fire on Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee. Operations Control mobilised 10 appliances, including specialist resources, to the scene of a fire in a derelict building.

"There are no reported casualties. Crews remain in attendance."
