Massive East Coast Storm Causes Travel Chaos, Flood & Wind Warnings

Massive storm triggers tornado warnings on east coast, disrupting holiday travel.

Hold onto your umbrellas, East Coast, and tell the reindeer to brace themselves! An untamed storm is throwing a wild party from Florida through the Carolinas and still has lots of punch left as it gallops up to the Northeast. Its raucous mood is wrecking holiday travel plans and creating a roiling tide of trouble.

Imagine a humdinger of a storm, hiccupping lightning and tickling tornadoes into life. The storm, still teasing its way up the coastline, is set to unleash its moody tantrum into tomorrow morning, promising a truly tempestuous commute to start the week.

And as a party trick, check out the record it smashed today – a whopping 9.8 ft, or nearly 10 ft of storm surge that pranced its way into Charleston Harbor. That hoisted it to the fourth greatest on record, outshining hurricane storm surges from Matthew and from Italia!

It's not just sea water we’re talking about here. The storm is also inducing tears from above in the form of torrential rains. Its wild spinning moves whip so much moisture into the air, you'd think it's auditioning for a spot on Dancing with the Stars!

Not stopping there, it's also coaxing rivers into minor flooding - a tad overexcited, perhaps? This rambunctious bloke is being watched carefully, particularly in New York and New Jersey.

Wait, there's more. Its party goody bag also contains a chilly punch in the form of cold air. Usually you'd expect this to create a grand snow show, but it seems the cold isn't as keen to party, staying behind the storm rather than mingling with it.

Rain totals? Expect a blanket 2 to 4 inches. And if the storm decides to throw a downpour for a local guest, that could easily hit a stunning 6 inches! And for dessert? A light layer of snow, a couple of inches thick.

Lastly, if you're planning an outdoor party on Long Island, say hello to a hearty gust of 65 mile per hour winds come Monday morning. Better bring in those fluttery decorations, or you might find them partying elsewhere! So, buckle up east coast, we’re in for a wild ride!
