Massive car crash in New Jersey pushes BMW into river; Indian-origin driver arrested after fleeing scene on foot

A massive crash involving a BMW and a Land Rover on Route 80 east on the Hackensack River Bridge in New Jersey saw the BMW hit the concrete barrier and plunge into the river while the driver rescued himself and fled the scene on foot. The Hackensack Fire Department crew responded to the scene and found multiple damaged vehicles and the submerged BMW in the river below.

The driver and passenger of the Land Rover suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, according to State Police. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Police identified the BMW driver as 32-year-old Zorawar S Kohli of Englewood Cliffs. After the crash, Kohli fled the scene on foot before he was found underneath a nearby train and arrested, reports said.
